EXPERIMENTS IN SCULPTURAL BOTANICA
This ongoing body of work explores the space between reality and fantasy, where familiar botanical forms are reimagined.
Through acts of experimentation, manipulation and transformation, the works invite a sense of wonder and ambiguity, blurring what is observed and what is imagined.
Conceived as a series of temporal sculptural experiments, the practice centres on ephemeral botanicals as primary material. Leaves, stems, and organic matter are manipulated, layered, and reassembled into transient forms that exist briefly before returning to the natural cycle of decay. Some works stand alone as individual pieces, while others operate as fragments within a larger, evolving experimentation.
Across the series, the work reflects Winter’s ongoing interest in perception, pareidolia, and the instability of form. By allowing materials to remain impermanent and unresolved, Experiments in Sculptural Botanica positions making as an act of observation rather than preservation.
