Emma Winter is a British interdisciplinary artist whose practice centres on the creation of emotionally resonant worlds.

Working across perception, transformation, and material states, her work explores the subtle forces that shape how we experience space, image, and environment, engaging both outer landscapes and inner awareness.

Her practice navigates the interplay between imagination and existence, transience and perception, exploring opposites, distortions, and the shifting boundary between reality and illusion. Through this enquiry, Winter creates sensorial works that invite contemplation, connection, and a heightened sense of presence.

Guided by ongoing research into energy, the elements, states of matter, and the relationship between object, space, and emotion, her work considers how environments influence feeling and behaviour. Rooted in process and experimentation, her practice brings together physical making and perceptual enquiry, often blurring the boundaries between art, environment, and experience.

 

Alongside her autonomous artistic practice, Winter draws on more than fifteen years of experience in set design, art direction, and visual storytelling across film, editorial, commercial, and large scale commissions. This background continues to inform her approach to materiality, composition, and narrative, enabling her to translate complex ideas into cohesive, immersive worlds.

 

Emma Winter Studio operates as an artist led practice and collaborative platform, producing self initiated works, installations, and research driven projects, while also undertaking selective, aligned commissions where authorship, craft, and experience are central.
