Emma Winter Studio is an interdisciplinary artistic practice creating artworks, environments and experiences that alter our relationship with place, perception and one another.

Founded by British artist and designer Emma Winter, the studio moves fluidly between disciplines, engaging both outer landscapes and inner awareness through a singular creative practice.

Winter’s practice navigates the interplay between imagination and existence, transience and perception, exploring opposites, distortions and the shifting boundary between reality and illusion. Through this enquiry, she creates sensorial works and experiences that invite contemplation, connection and a heightened sense of presence.

Beginning with close observation of place, material and atmosphere, projects develop through an evolving process of research, experimentation and making. Her work draws on an ongoing fascination with energy, the elements, states of matter and the relationship between object, space and emotion, considering how environments influence feeling and behaviour.

Winter brings to the studio more than fifteen years of experience in senior creative roles, creating extraordinary environments, experiences and stories across a wide range of contexts, including private commissions and consultancy. This breadth has shaped an instinctive understanding of narrative, atmosphere and experience, and an approach in which concept, material, space and sensory detail are considered as interconnected parts of a whole.

 

Working across independent works, commissions and creative direction, Winter develops ideas from their earliest beginnings into extraordinary places, experiences and encounters.
